The Disaster Vulnerability Reduction Project (DVRP) was officially launched in September 2014 with the establishment of a Project Coordination Unit (PCU).  In summary, the PCU is charged with the responsibility of implementing the various activities under the DVRP based on the Project Operations Manual.

The DVRP is funded by the World Bank, International Development Association (IDA), Pilot Program for Climate Resilience (PPCR), Strategic Climate Fund (SCF) and the Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica with an approved funding envelope of US$81.8 million.  The main objective of the project is to reduce vulnerability to natural hazards and climate change impacts in Dominica through investments in resilient infrastructure and improved hazard data collection and monitoring systems.

The Project Coordination Unit (PCU) comprised of an eleven (11) member team as follows:

  • Social Safeguards Specialist
  • Administrative & Contract Management Assistant
  • Driver/Messenger

  • Cleaner

The PCU is guided by the Project Steering Committee (PSC) which is chaired by the Permanent Secretary – Ministry of Environment, Rural Modernization & Kalinago Upliftment.  Additionally, as the Project's parent ministry, the Ministry of Environment, Rural Modernization & Kalinago Upliftment is the technical lead for coordination among partner agencies, and is also responsible for overseeing the PCU including the day-to-day execution of activities and project development.
